FDLE Agent of the Quarter

The second quarter FDLE Special Agent of the Quarter is Mike Bettis from the Ft. Walton Beach office in the Pensacola Region. Mike is one of the senior most agents in FDLE but still works as hard as a brand new agent. Mike, a DEA Task Force Agent, initiated an investigation of John and Justin Mikhael in June 2006. Mike, initially acting as the sole case agent, began with limited drug information that evolved into a major multi-jurisdictional narcotics and money laundering case. The group received large quantities of cocaine and high grade marijuana from in-door grow operations and sources of supply in South Florida and distributed it throughout Northwest Florida. To date, the investigation has yielded 39 arrests, 8 on state charges and 31 by Federal Indictment. This case has had a direct impact on active OCDETF cases in Miami, Montgomery, AL, Eagle Pass, TX, and most recently California and New York. In addition to the arrests, $260,106.00 in U.S. Currency, 126 lbs. of marijuana, 12 kilos of cocaine, 5 guns, and 4 vehicles have been seized. There are also a number of properties in the forfeiture process.

Congratulations to SA Bettis for his professionalism and leadership demonstrated in this case and the many others that he has worked throughout his career.
